British rock band Royal Blood will be touring throughout the summer in support of their recently announced and highly anticipated new album How Did We Get So Dark?, due out on June 16th on Warner Bros. Records.

After becoming the biggest breaking British rock band with their self-titled 2014 debut album, Royal Blood’s second album How Did We Get So Dark? is one of the most anticipated releases of the summer.

Royal Blood’s breakthrough was huge. Their debut album was the fastest-selling British rock debut in three years, hitting #1 in the UK, debuting in the Top 5 on the Billboard 200 Chart in the U.S. and going Top 20 in 12 countries. Before they knew it, they were performing for Howard Stern, touring with Foo Fighters, holding dressing room audiences with Jimmy Page in New York, and being presented with a BRIT for Best British Band in 2015 by the very same guitar god.

Royal Blood will also appear at festivals this summer including The Governors Ball in New York City, Glastonbury, Eden Sessions, and Japan’s Summer Sonic Festival.

Tong + The Heritage Orchestra with Jules Buckley take UK #1 Album and Live Performance Stateside

Pete Tong turned heads last year with his Ibiza Classics live shows, performed with the Heritage Orchestra and conducted by Jules Buckley. The union of orchestral music and iconic dance tracks was another bold, brilliant move from one of the most influential figures in dance music, and it paid dividends for Tong and the dance community – the BBC Proms performance and subsequent sold out arena shows across England, all lead to an official album release that garnered the #1 spot on the UK’s globally recognized album chart.

Now, Tong is bringing the wildly popular live show to the states, where he will command the iconic Hollywood Bowl for an evening of beloved interpolations of classic dance tracks, performed alongside the Heritage Orchestra and Jules Buckley, as well as surprise special guest performances.

Bringing the spectacle to Los Angeles was an easy decision for Tong, as the city is widely regarded as one of the worldwide capitals of contemporary dance music. Last year, for the first time ever, Pete also brought his legendary Essential Mix show to the city as well, featuring a live recording of an Essential Mix from Richie Hawtin. Considering this, LA and the Bowl became a natural home for this forward-thinking project.

Pete Tong Ibiza Classics began a couple of years ago at the triumphant BBC late night Ibiza Prom, where Tong worked with Buckley and the innovative Heritage Orchestra and its artistic director Chris Wheeler to pioneer a show that melded the world of dance music with an orchestra. “It resonated with people in a magical way,” says Tong.

The Proms had approached Radio 1 a few times about doing something at the event, but when they asked in early 2015 just as the station was pondering how best to celebrate 20 years of Radio 1 being embedded in Ibiza’s dance culture, everything clicked into gear. The idea was simple: classic Ibiza dance tunes but performed by an orchestra. It made sense that the station’s dance music trailblazer Tong would team up with the most exciting talents in orchestral music Jules Buckley and The Heritage Orchestra to curate and present the Ibiza Prom.

SOME TYPE OF STEREO hit the road

Local rockers Some Type of Stereo are heading out for their summer tour, hitting nine states that include Colorado, Kansas, Indiana, Ohio, New York, Pennsylvania, Washington D.C. and North Carolina, where they will reside to record an album for two weeks before heading back to play in California.

Some Type of Stereo is an L.A.-based band composed of John Garside (bass), Evan Matthews (guitar), Michael Szymczyk (drums) and Marco Toledo (vocals). The band plays a mixture of rock, funk, Latin and R&B with just enough flavor for everyone to enjoy. They track all their music live and on tape so they have to be well prepared before they head into the studio.

“We hope this tour gives us more experience and practice before we go to cut the full-length album,” Toledo said.

According to the band, they all play a role in the creation of the eclectic sound.

“The cool thing about this band is that we all take part in helping develop a song,” drummer Syzmczyk said. “A lot of us are multi-instrumentalists so we switch to different instruments sometimes.”

Some Type of Stereo seems to be keen on the fact that music is a universal language and can bring people together.

“We know we aren’t going to please everyone, but it’s about a common connection that people share with the music,” Garside said.

Aside from music, the band has different hobbies that they enjoy, such as sports, reading, being environmentalists and cooking Peruvian Dishes. Just ask Marco when he is available to make you dinner.

As for Matthews, he enjoys breaking couches — the quiet ones are usually the most trouble!
