Celebrate the loudest day of the year MOTÖRHEAD DAY!

“Ace Of Spades” – the title track of MOTÖRHEAD’s 1980 iconic, game changing album isn’t just one of the greatest hard rock songs ever written – it has truly become a lifestyle anthem for several generations of rockers, metalheads, punks, bikers, athletes, rebels, outcasts, and freethinkers all around the world. Few songs in modern history can instantly ignite the adrenaline of music fans the way the song’s opening dirty bass riff, and drum roll can. From zero to 100 mph in a matter of seconds. That speaker-destroying opening riff is unstoppable. And the song changed the course of hard rock…forever.

Now, 40 years later we are celebrating this milestone album’s anniversary on MOTÖRHEAD DAY 2020, ‘The 8th Of May’ by inviting you, the fans from around the globe to join us on this special day where everything is louder than everything else!

Here’s what’ll be happening on the day.

*Warping your face with a unique Facebook and Instagram filter of the snarling embodiment of MOTÖRHEAD.
*A worldwide premiere of a new lyric video for the most iconic of MOTÖRHEAD songs – “Ace Of Spades.” The video will premiere here – https://motorhead.lnk.to/AOSlyricPR
*A limited edition Road Crew merchandise capsule will be released on the webstore here –https://gtly.to/4TxQu50Ad. A portion of the proceeds of the Road Crew merchandise will be going to Live Nation’s Crew Nation Fund to provide financial support to touring crews affected at this time. #WeAreTheRoadCrew
*Raise a toast to MOTÖRHEAD! Fill a glass with your favorite libation and post your toast to MOTÖRHEAD online with the hashtag #8thofmay. Jack and Coke optional!

We hope you can join us as part of this celebration of all things MOTÖRHEAD. Lockdown may be going on all around us but the world is ours and we were born to raise hell! We look forward to celebrating 40 years of lawn killing, bastard Rock n Roll with you all!

Fearless Records is pleased to announce the signing of rock monoliths The Pretty Reckless. The band will be dropping a new single soon, so stay tuned for more details. In the meantime, singer Taylor Momsen will be doing a special acoustic performance as part of Fearless At Home on Saturday, May 9.

Watch the signing video here.

The Pretty Reckless formed in New York City during 2008, and the musicians and late producer Kato Khandwala initially made waves with their 2010 debut Light Me Up. After countless gigs, the band returned with Going To Hell in 2014. Not only did the record crash the Top 5 of the Billboard Top 200, but it also ignited three #1 hits —the gold-certified “Heaven Knows” (the biggest rock song of 2014), “Fucked Up World,” and “Follow Me Down”— a feat that had not been accomplished by a female-fronted group since The Pretenders in 1984. Meanwhile, their third offering, Who You Selling For, saw them return to #1 on the Mainstream Rock Songs Chart with “Take Me Down,” which cemented them as “the first band to send its first four singles to #1 on the chart,” according to Billboard. Praise followed from Vogue, Nylon, and more as the quartet lit up television shows such as Letterman and Conan. With over half-a-billion streams, they headlined countless sold out shows and toured with Guns N’ Roses and many other heavy hitters.

Opus Releases Solo Acoustic Series “The Corona Covers”

Opus (drummer of Dead By Wednesday / Ellefson & Earth) has released “The Corona Covers”, a solo acoustic series with songs and videos being added weekly!

“I’ve been so fixed on practicing and playing drums that I moved away from playing acoustic guitar, which I used to do and love so much. In the past I would go through periods where I don’t touch it. This quarantine forced me to find things to do. As soon as I picked it up, it was like clock work… I was writing songs in minutes and learning covers by ear like I usually do. Who doesn’t like cool cover songs done well or differently? It allows you to keep putting out content and stay relevant when none of us can play out live at the moment” says Opus.

“Music is either in your blood, or it’s not.” An adage by which Connecticut native Christian “Opus” Lawrence has become known for. From the first moment he heard the menacing and plodding rhythms of KISS’s “God of Thunder” roar through his speakers, he knew he would dedicate his life to creating music. Immediately drawn to the hard intensity of the drums, Opus purchased his first kit when he was 11, using money he earned from a paper route. Influenced by such greats as Vinnie Paul, Dave Lombardo, Stuart Copeland, John Bohnam and Tommy Lee, he submerged himself in his art, and tasted his first success as a musician while playing in the alternative metal band, Violent Industry.

While drums remained his first love, Opus wanted to conquer all aspects of songwriting, and taught himself guitar as he continued to play out as a drummer. In 1997 he formed Gargantua Soul with singer Kris Keyes, and spent the next decade creating a cult following as the 7-piece nu-metal/hard rap-rock group produced 3 albums and toured the country. Gargantua Soul was the only unsigned band to play Woodstock ’99, and they appeared on such shows as VH1’s Farm Club, Howard Stern Show, and on ESPN to name a few. After the band broke up in 2005, Opus went on to create the heavy metal band Dead by Wednesday with his cousins. His drumming evolved into a more aggressive style, though still holding onto the groove and finesse he had become celebrated for. His skills being sought after, Opus has acted as a hired touring drummer for Soulfly guitarist Marc Rizzo’s solo project, and 80’s platinum selling artists The Bullet Boys from LA.

Dead by Wednesday continues to conquer the metal world, having shared the stage with such legends as Shadow’s Fall, Rage Against The Machine, Flotsam and Jetsam and Hatebreed. Throughout this melodic timeline, Opus always composed his own personal music using his guitar and vocals. Influenced by a vast style of musicians, including Alice in Chains, Cat Stevens and Pink Floyd, it is through his acoustic music that he is able to tap into a more emotional aspect of his craft. In 2014, he decided to tread on a new waters and recorded his first solo acoustic CD, Opus Unplugged. He took his solo act on the road, incorporating his repertoire of cover songs. He soon played sold out shows opening for Zak Myers of Shinedown, Sevendust (unplugged), for both Scott Ian’s (Anthrax) and Dave Ellefson’s (Megadeth) spoken word tours, and toured nationally with Sean Danielson of Smile Empty Soul. This multi-talented artist has continuously searched for various outlets to express his creative nature, adding acting to his extensive resume, and has appeared on film and various cable reality shows. While he loves the energy he experiences from the crowd through playing the drums with his bandmates, his acoustic music allows him to connect with his fans on a new profound and intimate level.

“Do we sing what we write or write what we sing?”

Mark Lanegan and Wesley Eisold have come together to present words of dystopian desolation – well timed, no doubt. “Plague Poems” is a collection of 23 poems written by each, for love: lost, losing, and even sometimes found. Written in February and March of 2020, the sub-conscious presents a narrative of love in the end of days.

“This is Mark’s first collection of poetry and on my end, these are the poems I’ve always wanted to write but couldn’t until now,” Eisold comments. “Undoubtedly you will understand why once it’s read.”

Eisold, also renowned frontman/lyricist for Cold Cave and American Nightmare, has previously released “Deathbeds” and “Thieves of Youth” via the Heartworm Press publishing house.

Lanegan, known for his indelible musical output and as author of “I Am The Wolf” and “Sing Backwards and Weep”, presents his first collection of poetry on “Plague Poems”.

“Plague Poems” is perfect bound and copies are signed by the authors. The collection will be shipping on June 1st from Heartworm Press.

Napalm Records Lunches Online Tour Info Hub

Napalm Records

Napalm Records

As the impact of COVID-19 is being felt around the world, many of our Napalm Records artists and their teams have had to make the very difficult decision to postpone or cancel their previously scheduled tours. This current situation will cause previously unforeseeable issues for artists and the entire live entertainment industry, but the health and safety of everyone – including our artists, their teams and live music fans – is absolutely paramount, now and always.

Fan support is appreciated and very important, now more than ever. Contributing to fundraising, sharing words of support with artists, and streaming and/or purchasing music will help the beat go on at this difficult time, as bands work to move beyond current necessary setbacks.

For the convenience and planning purposes of our followers and the fans, we have created a landing page on our website, http://label.napalmrecords.com/corona, that will act as a hub for related information – including currently postponed or cancelled tours, related news, artist fundraising efforts, and streaming options. We will update this page on a regular basis.

In addition, as fellow music fans to the core, we at Napalm Records know the importance of sharing the amazing music of our passionate artists with fans – either on the road or in the comfort of their own homes. Therefore, we plan to host links to classic concerts and exclusive new content from Napalm Records artists – such as unique acoustic sets and intimate living room or studio concerts – via the above link, as well. This content will be dubbed the #NapalmSofaSeries. As our artists make this content available, it will be added to the #NapalmSofaSeries section of the landing page.

To kick things off, WOLFHEART has already announced a virtual concert for all fans all over the world on April 9th. Fans can check all further details via the landing page link. Stay tuned – more content is planned to be revealed soon.

Napalm Records Owner, Founder and Managing Director Markus Riedler states:
“Our thoughts and well wishes go out to all who are impacted during this difficult period of time and we would like to thank the strong community of fans for their immense support of any and all artists in the past and especially at this time. Whether it be supporting crowdfunding campaigns, purchasing music and merchandise, or even offering words of encouragement to artists via social media – this support is crucial in keeping music moving forward in times like these. Please stay responsible, healthy and safe.”

Napalm Records Managing Director Thomas Caser states:
“The essence of our music – experiencing it live – is hit extremely hard by this pandemic. A lot of artists who were on tours that got cancelled or had scheduled tours that got cancelled or postponed are facing difficult times. But our Metal community stays strong and we have seen amazing reactions, acts of solidarity and support for the artists. This is what our family of Metal is about. Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for this. Please keep on being positive, support the bands by listening to their music, show pride by proudly wearing their merchandising, and spread the music by sharing. Keep your tickets for moved tours, shows and festivals, hang in there with us! Better times will come when we all are able to gather again at concerts and festivals to celebrate our music. In the meantime, stay strong, healthy and foremost – HOME! Thank you all!”

About Gary Clark Jr.: Clark achieved global impact following his first Grammy Award in 2014 winning Best Traditional R&B Performance for the track “Please Come Home” from his Warner Records debut album Blak And Blu, and seemingly never left the road. Throughout 2019 Clark ascended to greater heights with the release of This Land – his third full-length studio album which bowed at #6 on the Billboard Top 200, marking his third consecutive Top 10 debut.

Clark’s domestic tours became instant sell outs and his international profile found him topping bills at legendary festivals around the world and venues including the Hollywood Bowl, along with multiple appearances in stadiums supporting and sharing the stage with The Rolling Stones.

Most recently, Clark won three more Grammy Awards including Best Rock Performance “This Land,” Best Rock Song “This Land,” and Best Contemporary Blues Album THIS LAND. Clark also performed his award-winning single “This Land,” backed by The Roots at this year’s Grammy Award ceremony and released their version of the track. To date, Clark has been nominated for six GRAMMY Awards® and won four. Clark is currently working on his follow-up to THIS LAND.

JUDAS PRIEST ANNOUNCE 50 HEAVY METAL YEARS TOUR 2020

JUDAS PRIEST; press photo

JUDAS PRIEST; press photo

One of heavy metal’s all-time greats, Judas Priest will be celebrating their 50th anniversary this year with a world tour coming to the US in the fall. The 50 Heavy Metal Years Tour will also feature Sabaton as openers and is being fueled by the highest charting album of Priest’s career ‘Firepower‘ which peaked at #5 on the Billboard 200.

“Judas Priest are primed and ready to deliver the goods with our 50 Heavy Metal Years anniversary celebration stage show spectacular! Performing a blistering cross section of songs from our lives in metal – we can’t wait to raise horns with you again at this once in a metal lifetime event!” – Judas Priest

JUDAS PRIEST 50 Heavy Metal Years tour poster

Judas Priest originally formed in 1970 in Birmingham, England (an area that many feel birthed heavy metal). The original nucleus of musicians – Rob Halford, Glenn Tipton, KK Downing & Ian Hill (along with several different drummers over the years) would go on to change the face of heavy metal. Throughout the 70’s Priest were responsible for helping trail blaze metal with such classic offerings as ‘Sad Wings of Destiny‘ (1976) ‘Sin After Sin‘ (1977) and ‘Hell Bent for Leather‘ (1978) as well as one of the genre’s top live recordings ‘Unleashed in the East’ (1979) among others.

But it was during the 80’s that Priest conquered the world, becoming a global arena headliner on the strength of such all-time classics as ‘British Steel’ (1980) and ‘Screaming for Vengeance’ (1982), as well as being one of the first metal bands to be embraced by the then-burgeoning MTV, plus performing at some of the decades biggest concerts (1980’s Monsters of Rock, 1983’s US Festival, and 1985’s Live Aid) and being the first to exclusively wear leather and studs – a look that began during this era and would eventually be embraced by metal heads throughout the world. Priest’s success continued throughout the 90’s and beyond with the addition of drummer Scott Travis, as evidenced by such additional stellar offerings as ‘Painkiller’ (1990) ‘Angel of Retribution’ (2005) and ‘A Touch of Evil: Live’ (2009) the latter of which saw Priest win a Grammy Award for a killer rendition of the classic ‘Dissident Aggressor’.

In 2011 new guitarist Richie Faulkner came in to replace the previous guitarist who had left in 2010 – the move seemed to have reinvigorated the band, as evidenced by a show-stealing performance on the ‘American Idol’ TV program that also served as Faulkner’s debut performance with the band (also in 2011 was the release of a new compilation ‘The Chosen Few‘ which included Priest classics selected by some of metal’s biggest names) and the ‘Epitaph’ concert DVD in 2013.

Priest’s next studio effort would arrive in 2014 ‘Redeemer of Souls‘ which was supported by another strong tour.

In 2017 (and again in 2019) Judas Priest received a nomination for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and got ready to unleash their latest studio album ‘Firepower‘ (produced by Andy Sneap and Tom Allom) which received global success and critical acclaim.

Few rock or metal acts remain as much of a must-see live attraction as Judas Priest. And the forthcoming 50 Heavy Metal Years Tour will undoubtedly drive this point home.

Today, Cage The Elephant shares a new version of their song “Broken Boy,” featuring Iggy Pop. The track finds the godfather of punk singing a verse and contributing backing vocals to the opening song off the band’s celebrated fifth studio album, Social Cues (RCA). Listen to “Broken Boy” featuring Iggy Pop: https://smarturl.it/xBrokenBoy

Said Iggy Pop about his collaboration with the band: “Cage is a super high energy outfit, living the Rock dream, so for a couple of fun minutes I was one of the boys. Sounds pretty wicked to me.

Frontman Matt Shultz spoke of his adoration of Iggy “He’s such a pioneer in so many fields: lyrically, culturally, poetically, visually, musically, and stylistically. Only a couple times in your life do you have the opportunity to share a moment with a visionary and beautiful human as he is. I’m grateful and blown away to have experienced and witnessed, not just his creativity, but also his kindness, humility, and humanness first hand. Such a testimony to the power of love.”

The band’s performance on Austin City Limits, taped at the Moody Theater, will air on January 25th as part of the long-running PBS show’s 45th season. During the taping, which The Austin Chronicle said continued the band’s “ascendant rampage into rock & roll history,” the band performed hit songs including “Social Cues,” “Trouble,” “Broken Boy” and “Ain’t No Rest for the Wicked.” Check your local PBS listings for air-times.

Cage The Elephant has also been nominated for Best Rock Album at the 62nd GRAMMY Awards for Social Cues. The honor marks the third time the band has been nominated. The band won 2017’s Best Rock Album GRAMMY for Tell Me I’m Pretty and were nominated in 2015 for Best Alternative Music Album for Melophobia. The 62nd GRAMMY will air Sunday, January 26th.

Additionally, the band has been nominated for both “Alternative Rock Artist Of The Year” and “Alternative Rock Song Of The Year” for “Ready To Let Go” at the 2020 iHeartRadio Music Awards. The ceremony will take place on Sunday, March 29th at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.

The band recently wrapped up their two-month long amphitheater “The Night Running Tour” with Beck featuring Spoon in the US. The band announced a UK & European tour in early 2020 that also features SWMRS and Post Animal.

About the New LP Natural Affair
Led by singer Brooks Nielsen and music director/guitarist Matt Taylor, The Growlers released their most recent album, Natural Affair, late last year to critical acclaim on their own Beach Goth Records and Tapes (October 25, 2019). Natural Affair advances the band’s swampy DIY aesthetic into their sturdiest, synthiest, warmest sound yet, bolstered by Nielsen’s finest lyrics to date: social commentary, rhymes, and ruminations on the pleasures (and perils) of modern love. Listen to the album HERE.

Listen to The Growlers live on World Cafe

The Growlers-NPR World Cafe; photo Taylor BoninVia NPR: “Some bands feel like your own best-kept secret. Take The Growlers: The California group got its start when asked to play a house party… For more than a decade since, the band’s managed to keep that underground feeling, where every show feels like you’re seeing something special, like you’re part of an in-the-know community. But while The Growlers holds tight to its DIY ethos, the group’s grown a dedicated fanbase, including people like Dan Auerbach, Julian Casablancas and Ellen DeGeneres.”
