Refusing to let anything stop them, modern day producers push the limits of sound design in every imaginable direction. From hazy atmospheric lo-fi to the heavy subs found in bass music, there seems to be no limit to what is possible. Subconscious Audio is a drum and bass label that recently exploded onto the scene who fervently pursue this concept; having dropped a massive VA comp showcasing a wide variety of fresh stylistic approaches, the label now brings us a devastating release from badmen Dedman and Sudley.

“Kazuki” begins with a massive buildup, composed of a raucous drum pattern, an anthemic vocal sample, and piercing atmospherics that come crashing together into the drop. The tune then launches into its fury full force – a powerful driving rhythm that blends perfectly with the melancholic beauty of the vocals. There is no doubt this is one that will ignite any dancefloor.

Delving into deeper and darker territory, “Untouchable” opens with an ominous backdrop and a chaotic hat pattern. All of this fuses into the heavy rolling sub, launching the listener into a fathomless pit of sound. Solidifying the heady vibe with intricate layers of FX, this is a furious number that uses gut wrenching bass growls and throbbing subs to insidiously invade the mind.
