Kastle Live At Tapas On May 28

In celebration of his debut album Kastle, (April 23), and his track “Stay Forever,” which was named one of iTunes’ Top 10 best Electronic Songs of 2012, Kastle is bringing his music to Focus Tuesdays with a much-anticipated stop in Newport Beach on May 28.

Originally from Pittsburgh and Boston, and now based in San Francisco, Barrett Richards (aka Kastle) has a unique sound which is a product of his life-long adoration for hip-hop and R&B, fused with dubstep and bass-heavy beats. A self-taught musician, Kastle learned piano and guitar at a young age and later dove deeply into the rave scene.

With a background in audio engineering, Kastle knows how to craft the music to seeming perfection. He puts as much perfection into the quality of the production as he does his live shows. A matchless quality to Kastle’s music is the catchy vocals – some original, some sampled. Each track has a soulful, smooth quality that Kastle is known for, and most have a keyboard solo which he brings to his live sets.

You may recognize his “other act” – B. Rich. While he is still creating music under that moniker as well, Barrett created the “Kastle” concept in 2009, and so far it has been a quite successful decision. Kastle has earned strong media attention from the likes of XLR8R, URB, and MTV Hive. Kastle’s current tour has taken him across Canada, Australia, New Zealand and North America.
