Legendary UK 80s post-punk, new wave band, Echo and The Bunnymen, begin play the Pacific Amphitheatre Friday Aug 7 playing songs from their latest album, “Meteorites”, along with the classics.

Produced by Youth (Killing Joke, The Verve), “Meteorites” contains new songs written by founder Ian McCulloch.

“For me, this is a whole new approach. It’s more edgy than anything I’ve ever done,” Says McCulloch. “I’m dealing with something on this record I didn’t want to deal with for a long time.”

McCulloch is often seen on stage with a drink and a cigarette at hand, wearing dark glasses and is often described as having a charismatic and mysterious persona.

Original members McCulloch and guitarist, Will Sargeant, have numerous classic songs to play along with the new ones. Songs like “Rescue” (Crocodiles), “A Promise” (Heaven Up Here), and “The Cutter” (Porcupine), from their first three albums all charted in the UK.

However, in the States, “The Killing Moon” (Ocean Rain) and “Lips Like Sugar” (Echo and The Bunneymen) were probably their most popular songs and brought the band from cult status to mainstream success.

This is a unique opportunity to experience the music of this legendary group outdoors under the moonlight.
